26 December 2011
Dear Homeowners and Residents:
A Blessed and Peaceful New Year to you!
I am pleased to report on the Outreach Project of the Board of Directors which was started in December 2007.
On December 26th, with the cooperation and support of Chairman Engracio Santiago and the assistance of Barangay Gender and Development (GAD) led by Ms. Lourdes Nopal and staff, two hundred (200) New Year bags were distributed to two hundred (200) selected families of six (6) Puroks of Barangay Ugong. The families were represented by their children who accepted the bags which contained food items. The selection process made sure that this year’s recipients would be first timers.
One hundred (100) bags were also distributed to 100 senior citizens belonging to the Ugong Senior Citizens Association, who were specially selected through the assistance of the Ugong Senior Citizens’ Association (USCA) headed by the President, former City Councilor Alejandro Santiago, the Purok coordinators and USCA secretary, Ms. Cecilia Llarenas.
The children, senior citizens, their family members who were present as well as the Barangay staff were also treated to some light refreshments.
Song and dance numbers were rendered by eighteen children (18) and two senior citizens (2). They were gifted a grandson of Engr. Eliseo Santiago, VV5 Vice President, and daughters of Mr. Raul Agustin, Stefanie and Cristina with their friend, Bea Songco and Clara Puyat, daughter of Mr. Antonio Puyat. Mr. Agustin started this project when he was Board President five years ago.
We thank Chairman Jesse Santiago and City Councilor Andy Santiago for their support and assistance to make the project a success.
I thank Mr. Antonio Puyat for his contribution of 200 bags of food items and the participants of Valle Verde 5’s Family Day/Bingo Social and Walk-for-a-Cause activities for the additional bags for the senior citizens.
I thank the Board members who helped in the distribution, namely:
Mr. Raul Agustin, Engr. Eliseo Santiago, Mr. Danilo Palma and Dr. Patria G. Arañas, who coordinated with the Barangay.
I thank the Administration Staff, Maybel Alagos, Elaine Masola, Rolly Lacsamana, Ricky Arabit, Michael Villeta who assisted in the gift-giving.
I also thank all Administration Staff who prepared the bags and the refreshments..
The Barangay Ugong recipients with the Barangay Officials and Staff expressed their hope that Valle Verde 5 continue with this tradition.
